Shipping Dangerous Goods

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A DANGEROUS GOOD?

Dangerous goods are items or substances which could pose a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment.

They need to be packed properly, handled carefully, and shipped with the required expertise to ensure they arrive safely at their destination.

WHAT ARE THE PROHIBITED ITEMS?

These are items that cannot be sent. Please check our list of prohibited items to ensure that your parcel can be delivered without any delays.

There are some obvious things that you cannot send  (such as animals, illegal substances, guns, and explosives for instance). But there are also less obvious items that carriers can’t transport, including aerosols, perfumes, aftershaves, Eau de toilettes, and cash.

WHICH DANGEROUS GOODS DO WE SHIP?

There are nine classes of dangerous goods and it’s important to know which products are considered dangerous. Some goods, such as explosives and poisons, are clearly dangerous. But others may surprise you. Aerosols, perfumes, and most products that contain lithium batteries – such as mobile phones or laptops – all count too.

WHEN SHIPPING A LAPTOP OR MOBILE PHONE

Remember the following requirements for packaging and correct labelling.

The shipper is responsible for ensuring that dangerous goods are correctly classified, declared, packed and labelled with the right documentation for the countries/territories of origin, transit and destination. If you’re unsure, check with the manufacturer or supplier to find out the classification of your dangerous goods.

This is why you should trust our team of experts at MAIL BOXES ETC. to ship your packages.

We will ensure that your shipment meets the required needs for packaging and have the correct declaration for customs
