Every non-documents shipment sent outside of the EU, for example US, UK, Switzerland, etc. requires documentation for customs clearance. Normally referred to as commercial invoice or proforma invoice it is the main document, in some cases additional documentation might be required. You’ll have to print 2-3 copies and attach one of them to the package and the other copy(ies) handed over at the drop off location. For further information on Customs declaration and how to fill up the form; you can refer to UPS and DHL respectively.
For any international shipment (specially for non-EU) it is very important you mention precisely what you are sending. You cannot simply say “gift” or “goods” or “sample”. You need to describe each item individually. Failure to comply with these requirements risks delaying your parcel or being stuck in customs.
For international parcels, a true market price of the merchandise is obligated so that Customs can determine any applicable duties and taxes towards the goods.
Every country has its own set of rules and criteria to charge or not duties and taxes. So if you want to be sure you should check the receiver’s country import rules.
Important: If the receiver refuses to pay the duties and taxes, the package may be returned or destroyed, all expenses associated with these events will be charged to the sender.
Personal effects are items that belong to and are used by a single person. Personal Effects are used items (owned for at least 6 months) intended for the consignee’s personal use. Items intended for use other than personal effects, such as wholesale or retail sales, business purposes, or distribution, are not considered personal effects and cannot be shipped on this basis.
Personal effects, also known as personal items, are shipments that typically contain used items, gifts, or shipments that are ready for re-location or relocation to another country. Each country has its own rules and regulations in relation to the personal effects and their import. For example, for sending personal effects to the USA it is important to complete a Customs Form 6059B “Customs Declaration”, for accompanying goods or Form 3299 “Declaration For Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles” and attach with the package you are sending. For detailed information on moving to the USA you can refer to MBE Blog Post.
Likewise for the UK you need to fill out the online ToR1 Form.
Similarly, for Canada you can fill this Personal Effects Accounting Document and attach along with the package.
For packages to Norway, you have to fill the RD0030 Form and attach it along with the package.
For Switzerland, you have to fill and attach the Form 18.44 household effects along with the package.
For the rest of the countries please refer to the respective customs rules and regulations.
Based on the carrier you choose for sending your package, you can track the parcel through UPS Tracking or DHL Tracking.
MBE Online Shipping-Service operates a fully encrypted and secure payment gateway for all the debit and credit card transactions.
Once your MBE Online Shipping-Service booking has been successfully validated, you will receive an invoice via email confirmation along with the shipping label and other necessary documents.
